Bodywork
Through the use of touch, the body is supported in its innate capacity to heal
.
I offer two modalities of touch and bodywork. SE- (Somatic Experiencing)- touch: Language is sometimes inadequate to access very deep shock states in the body, and so the work of SE touch focuses on building capacity for containment, and supporting coherence in the body. Through the use of touch, the body is supported in its innate capacity to heal; like a mirror, touch offers the body feedback to meet itself intimately. In order for deep reorganization to occur, tissue states and the physical patterns associated with shock need to be addressed more directly, and the use of touch is often the most efficient way to do so. SE and touch work can help to restore physiological choice in ‘locked up’ areas and support re-establishing responses. The focus is on specific physical systems; the joints, body diaphragms and viscera. SE touch can be received seated or lying down. (usually on a treatment table) For further resources on SE and touch you might like to have a look at the following: Peter A Levine- In an Unspoken Voice Dr Aline LaPierre- Healing Touch: Honouring the Somatic Dimension of Psyche John T Cottingham- Healing Through Touch Zenthai Shiatsu: I am a Level One Zenthai practitioner. Zenthai is a creative form of bodywork that integrates techniques and philosophy from Zen Shiatsu, Thai massage and osteopathy. Founded by Gwyn Williams, the practice and offering invites both a gentle and dynamic intimate approach to meeting ourselves. We work with the body holistically meeting blockages in our body/mind preventing us from experiencing our innate birthright to freedom, joy and ease. Zenthai supports our free flow of vital energy restoring balance as well as emotional support through working with the body systems, joint mobilisation, stretches, rhythmic, fluid, and dynamic flow. Zenthai is a floor based, fully clothed bodywork system. For more information about Zenthai: https://www.zenthaishiatsu.com I offer one to one sessions, in Edinburgh, from 60 to 90 minutes in a studio space both in a therapy centre and/or from my home. Bodywork can be, and often is, interwoven with my other practiced modalities; Voice work, Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt and Somatic movement. We will work together in best supporting the needs that arise. If you’re interested or to book with me, please email: info@somaremembering.com
